Discover Your Untapped Potential
Currently, I am a marketing intern for New Vision Engineering.
This blog post is unique. It’s the only non-engineering/technical type blog post on New Vision Engineering’s blog.
Why did I post a people skills blog post on an engineering website? Because I looked up topics that were trending on LinkedIn and decided that it would be beneficial to have a blog post of that type on our company page.
Plus, people skills are applicable in ANY environment!
This blog post is also unique in that I performed a very interesting exercise while writing it. I am in the writing module for Praxis, and one of our recommended exercises was to cut your voice in half. Simply put, write a blog post, and then cut out half the words and still get your point across.
I learned so much from this exercise! Mostly, I learned that SO many of my words are unnecessary, but I also realized that I liked my material better AFTER I had eliminated half of the words.
This topic is one that I am quite passionate about, so cutting it in half wasn’t easy at first, but proved to be a stimulating exercise in the end!
Discover Your Untapped Potential in the Workplace
Link before I cut out half of the words.
Link to the published work (half as long).
Notice the point is still the same, but it’s less hidden and the main point is easier to find.
The easiest way to do this is to ask, “what am I trying to say here?” and then write just enough to get that point across.
I would encourage you to try this out sometime – it’s really eye-opening!
Until next time,
Hope Frances
