My First Medium Publication
Hey!
I took a step today that I never thought I would…
Well, I guess I thought I would do this someday, but I didn’t think it would be so soon!
I submitted an article to a third-party publication, and it was published!
Before I link to the article, I wanted to say a few things. First, you shouldn’t be afraid to take a step forward. When I heard that submitting to third-party publications was going to be part of the 3rd month of Praxis, I was a little overwhelmed. Luckily, they had an article on the portal that explained how to do it, but I still wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it.
However, I was determined to do it anyway because I kept hearing that it was a valuable experience. I took the piece I wanted to publish and swapped it for review with one of my peers first. I figured that if I was going to publish it, I should let someone else’s eyes see it beforehand! After I edited it (thanks, Lolita Allgyer!), I submitted it and I was accepted.
Here’s my second point – after you do something that’s outside of your comfort zone and get a tiny taste of success, you have grown and it feels so good! Your comfort zone will never be that small again because you made the choice to expand it. I think I will continue to submit to third-party publications…even if I get rejected. I think I’ll continue to gain so much from it!
Here is the link to my article! Thanks for reading!
