Writer’s Block and Lost Passwords

Today is day 2 of blogging.  I felt very much inspired by the success of my first post 🙂In other words, I didn’t only write five words and proceed to bang my head against the keyboard, I actually produced something worth reading.  Something that I was happy enough to let other people read.

SO ANYWAY…

I felt like I was off to a great start.  My blog was published, people knew of its existence, and the actual task of writing it was not as hard as I thought it would be.  I am officially a blogger!  Go me!!!

And then IT happened.

You fellow writers know what I’m talking about…I had been infected with the dreaded “Writer’s Block.”  This term, “writer’s block,” just doesn’t seem to fit.  I think we should call it “Blanking Out” because that’s what ACTUALLY happens.  You stare at an empty page, pound out a few words that just randomly come to your head (and usually they are NOT post worthy AT ALL), angrily delete them in frustration, and then proceed to repeat this process over and over again.

OR…

You can just start writing and hope that inspiration comes to you.  Well….That’s what I decided to do.  So, I dutifully attempted to log onto my WordPress account to write my second blog post ever (that just doesn’t have the same ring to it as one’s first blog post ever….but oh well), and lo and behold, I had forgotten my password.  This action had seemed like a really great idea approximately two days ago, but now I was rather annoyed with my “two days ago” self.

But come on…Who forgets their password two days after resetting it?!

Well….Apparently, I do.  You see, I don’t really remember things that well.  I forget things.  A lot.  You get the point.  You and I will set a date to have a picnic.  I will proceed to think through in my head EVERYTHING that I need to bring to this picnic to make it the best picnic ever.  I will arrive, and I will have everything we need and a lot of things we don’t need: a picnic blanket, a few fishing rods, an umbrella in case it rains (which it probably won’t because there’s not a cloud in the sky), and you have brought the drinks.  But alas, I would be the one to forget the food.  Yeah.  That’s me.

SO….after momentarily panicking, I remembered that I have a place where I keep all of my passwords!  There was hope!  Surely I wouldn’t forget to update my blog password right?  Yes I did.  To make things worse, I tried guessing it too many times and got locked out of trying again.  Ouch.

Great.  I thought.  My second day of blogging and I’m locked out of my blog.  I stared helplessly at my homepage like you stare at your car keys through your car door window when you lock them in the car (Oh I’ve done that too…about three times in a 6-week span I believe).  My poor blog followers… I continued to think.  Well….All five of them.

Unfortunately, there was nothing left for me to do but reset my password.  But hey, it worked.  I’m back in…obviously 🙂

Lesson #2: Creativity happens when one JUST STARTS, and then….KEEPS GOING!

It’s not enough to just start, you have to keep going too!  Persevere!  Keep chipping away at the project you started and keep with it!  DON’T QUIT!  DON’T GIVE UP!!!  Anything worth doing is worth taking the time to DO.  So find something worthwhile, start it, and keep going!  I think you’ll be glad you did.

Hopefully that actually applies and makes sense….I know…it’s a stretch…but hey, it’s my second day.  Maybe I’ll find something more interesting to write about tomorrow 😉

I’d better…..

Until next time,

Hope Frances
